you've come a long way going the wrong way, don't even put your suitcase down
Poor neglected bloggy. I forget why I initially quit posting on this one way back when. I think it's because everyone I knew at that point was using xanga. So I'm just going to give a link right here for that one. Not like I update that one that often anyways. But it'll save me time trying to remember to update this one like I had tried to remember to do for a while. In cased you missed the link in the sentence above (not that anyone really cares to read the mindless prattle that comes from the mind of the Snarf) the link is below.

bartender, pour her a double the band just played her favorite song
Jess managed to get me out to take some pics the other day. This was my fave out of all of them. It shows my gorgeous Jess in all her perfectness and beautifulness and prettiness and gourgeousness. And it shows the new haircut I'm sporting. Yep, the buzz cut that I'm still trying to convince her she likes - and it shows the scar on the backside of my head. Maybe that's why she doesn't like it.
She had just taken a pic where I was giving my best rock star impression. Then she realized I still had my sunglasses on. So she yanked them off of me and made me do it again. I don't think she realized I was still being a rock star (in my head.

I'm playing castanets with my knees
Snarf's Bag O' Randomness for today:
- As most Americans, I have been following this new Mega-Pork, Bailout, Stimulus Package with interest. My interest has turned into a resignation that it is going to be passed anyways because "the American people want it." Although, I have yet to meet anyone that thinks it is going to do any good.
- Speaking of politics, I heard Nancy Pelosi say last week that the Dems are no longer a partisan party. According to her, they are practicing non-partisan politics, and the Repubs are doing anything but being bi-partisan. I think she needs to clarify her definitions. To her, bi-partisan = "you do what we want to do" and non-partisan = "we won so you have to shutup and do what we say."
- I made egg salad the other night. Jess doesn't like my egg salad. I think it totally rocks!
- We stopped through Guitar Center the other night, and there was this Gretsch that I've been eyeing since they came out last year for about half price. It was used, but didn't have a mark on it, and it played like a dream. It's a good thing I didn't have the money to rationalize another axe right now. Otherwise I'd be the proud new owner of one of those orange 5120's. Jess initialy said last year that she didn't like them, but everytime we go in I point them out, and she warms up to them little more.
- For those that haven't seen me (which is practically everybody) I did go ahead and get that buzz cut. I really like it. I'm still having to remind my gorgeous Jess that she likes it too.
- I'm not positive that I am a true introvert. I'm definitely not an extrovert! That I know. But I'm not painfully shy enough to call myself a true introvert. That is assuming that introverts are painfully shy. I saw this article, and thought it spoke volumes as to why I've never managed to climb the ladder at Accenture. My thought has always been to get in and keep my head down and do a good job. I don't, and will NOT, get caught up with some of the others in constantly banging my drum just so everybody knows my name. So, since Accenture is an extrovert's heaven, I don't guess I'll ever rise through the ranks.
- I actually had my last supe make me go through some training on "emotional balance" because she thought that I took things "too seriously." Going through the course, my thought was that this is a course developed by an extrovert trying to convince all of us that aren't why we should be.
- I also thought this comment was pretty on target for myself. "For introverts, to be alone with our thoughts is as restorative as sleeping, as nourishing as eating."
- I guess I'm probably more of an introvert that I care to admit.
- I've really been laughing at Get Fuzzy lately. Especially today. Bucky Katt never fails to make me laugh..."middle of noon" and "I laughed, he cried, I touched him motionally."
- I've been reading The Hitchhiker series. I'm currently on Book 4 of the Trilogy. It's been a fun read. Makes me think that the last time I really geeked out was after Christmas one night when Jess was at work. I got a Star Wars dictionary from my sister-in-law, and so I was flopped out comparing it to the other Star Wars dictionary I have (to be sure that they agreed on stuff - one of them has few pics but lots of content and covers primarily the original 3 movies, and the new one has lots of really cool illustrations and covers primarily the more recent 3 movies) while listening to the record I picked up of the Star Wars script soundtrack. I don't think I was wearing my "Han Shot First" shirt, but there's a good chance I was. I try not to geek out like that too much when Jess is here. I think it would probably scare her.
- She wants to get pics taken of us today. I want to sit and play my guitar. We'll see who gets to do what they want.

So Inauguration Day has now come and gone. Even though my guy didn't win (course I don't think I can honestly say that I had a guy in this election) I was proud to be an American yesterday. There's something about seeing a new President sworn in that makes pride swell in the heart. Then a few fist pumps in the air and a run around the office high-fiving everyone is necessary. Seriously, how could you not be taken in by all the pomp and ceremony?!? And, while I'm on Inauguration Day, I think it should be a national holiday so everyone can watch in person or on tv and celebrate a new beginning - whether you're happy with the results of the election or not.
I had heard about these people, and, honestly, believed that they didn't exist. But I came across one yesterday. I came across this Christian man that firmly believed that, now that President Obama has been sworn in, it is his God-given duty to pray that the new Presidential administration fall completely on its behind in failure. He even quoted Scripture at me to try and show me that he was right. I was speechless. I had to get into his head.
Come to find out this guy had the right idea, but his approach and attitude about the whole thing was so far out in left field that I can't help but disagree with him. I had to say he was right. Yes, I want all the liberal ideas to fall flat. I want any grand ideas of making government bigger to die a miserable death. However, a new guy is at the helm, and, although I disagree with his ideologies I can in no way pray that he is anything but successful.
Parts of President Obama's speech yesterday sounded so Presidential. Here were my 3 fave lines from the speech - dare I say that all 3 lines I could envision my Presidential hero, Ronald Reagan, saying:
"Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake."
"We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you. "
"What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task. "
Honestly, our new President has me concerned. Heck, just by nature of the fact that he is the top of the heap in the Democratic Party right now scares the heebie-jeebies out of me. But, I've already mentioned Ronald Reagan, and I know that he would tell me to give him the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to prove himself. So I am doing just that.
I hope for my sake and sake of my beautiful Jess that Barack Obama is successful. I hope for the sake of my country that Barack Obama is the most successful President in history. I will pray that he makes wise decisions and that he leads the country in the direction that we need to go. Will I pray that President Obama fails? I will hope and pray that any big government, leftist-socialistic policies and anything that flies in the face of what I believe will not pass. But, since his success, or lack thereof, will ultimately trickle down and affect me, I hope and pray that he succeeds in leading this great country to do the right thing. Pray that he and his administration fail?? Good grief I can't think of anything worse to pray for!
President Bush did things that I liked, and he did things that I didn't like. But, love him or hate him, his time has come to a close, and, as Americans, we look forward to a new leader. I'm excited for the future of the country. I look forward to a different style of leadership and new charisma that can sweep from one coast to the other.
I have to mention Reagan again. Like him or not, and I know plenty of people that think he was the devil himself, I think his greatest accomplishment was that he convinced the American people to believe in themselves. He managed to bring the country together to believe that we were still the greatest nation in the world. I read a quote from Denzel Washington yesterday regarding our new President. And I hope that President Obama can live up to what he said. Denzel Washington said, "As Mr Obama has said, it's not about him. It's about us. It's about what we can do collectively."
And that's what scares me. I've talked to several at work that have been saying that "Obama is going to do this for me" or "Obama is going to make sure that this happens for me." That is total crap! I hope President Obama is able to change these minds so that they realize that it's not about him. It's about what we can do.
My hope for our new President boils down to this. I hope that he is able to convince people not to look to him or the government. I hope he is able to get people out of the mentality of "what can Obama do for me" and into the mindset of "Obama was able to change things so that I could do this for myself." And that he always tries his dogged best to do the right thing.
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I'm hoping and praying that he is successful in leading this country in the way we need to go. I'm hoping he doesn't let me down.
Oh. And one other thing. Now that he's out of office, I really hope the Bush-haters finally shut up.

Currently listeining to Billy Crockett...Portrait of Love...this song was one of my fave songs back in the 80's that I rediscovered back in like '98. The song has a quiet, solo guitar accompaniment that shows Billy Crockett's mastery of the guitar. The chorus has always spoken to me...kind of a really loose paraphrase of 1 Cor 13.
Portrait of Love
--Billy Crockett
He wouldn't sit still long enough to have his protrait done
His heart was set to move his life at twice the speed of love
The artist who tried to freeze His style in canvas or in stone
Found that real life isn't still life even if the life's the Lord
A travelling artsit known as Paul painted truth with words
The truth that he saw was burning love that comforts and disturbs
Each year he grew until he knew the portrait could not wait
Without a sound the man sat down and he began to paint
Love is patient, love is kind
Never jealous, free of pride
Love will never be confined, and love will abide
Love is hopeful, love's not blind
Love is faithful everytime
Love is Someone, and if you'll open your eyes you'll find
Love is alive
Now love's gonna stand the test of time gonna stand when time is spent
Just look at the portrait painted it's the Son the Father sent
He is patient, He is kind
Never jealous, free of pride
He will never be confined and He will abide
Love is hopeful, love's not blind
Love is faithful everytime
Love is Someone and if you'll look in His eyes you'll find
Love is alive
Got dissed for the DMB show last week-end and I wasn't going by myself so I didn't make it. So I hung out in the apartment and played the Martin...I need to drop the action on it a little.....would of played the Parker but the battery for the on-board was dead and I didn't have another one, so I didn't play it at all.
Talked to the cat's owner Fri night too. His wife was all concerned that someone had broken into their apartment because when I was trying to get that spawn of satan our fro under the bed I had to move the bed and the dresser and didn't get them back exactly like they had been before. I thought that was funny...she must have forgotten that I was going to take care of the thing for her. I hope she doesn't forget the cobbler they promised for payment...buy me a little Blue Bell to go with it and I'll be set. :-)
Sunday school this morning finished up Galations. Next week we start James. Kinda interesting pairing if you ask me....Galations talking about grace and the fact that we do nothing to earn salvation, and then James talking about faith without works is dead. Course balance it all with Christ saying that if we love Him we'll keep His commandments. It should be good.

I met Macavity today...at least I think that's who it was. Course I don't know his real name. It was actually kinda funny, but could have turned out pretty bad. I am watching a buddy's cat while he is out of town. I was sitting on the couch watching tv bobbing this feather thing above its head, and he was batting at it. He ran to the side of the couch, crouched, and then came at a dead run towards the feather thing. He jumped off the edge of the couch, went diving after the feather thing, hit the floor and started a mad turn to try and hit it again. The cat must be the most unco-ordinated I have ever seen. While he was trying to turn, he bounced of - and up and over - the corner of the DVD player that was on the floor, knocked the speaker that was on top of it off the back, tried to recover from that and came tearing back across the 3 or so feet between me and the DVD player and ran smack into the leg of the coffee table. He woozily wandered over to the dining room, and then into the bedroom where he settled under the middle of the queen size bed, and then started meowing like it was in pain...and shaking. I finally decided that all the excitement had caused the cat to cough up a hair-ball so I reached under the bed, pulled it out, and went to deposit him into the empty bath tub since I didn't want to have to clean up the floor. The spawn of satan spotted the bath tub and started scratching and clawing so I threw him at the tub. He hit the side, went rolling into it, and in I think one leap had jumped out of the tub around the corner and back under the very center of that bed. He was still meowing and shaking. I pulled him back out, and set him on the floor where he promptly started this sideways walk that didn't look right back under the bed. I decided to let him stay there until I had to go about 20 minutes later. I then, once again, pulled him out from under the bed and carried him to the kitchen where I set him on the floor. he seemed fine after that. I intended to check on it again on the way to work to be sure it wasn't dead after that episode, but didn't have time. I'll either feed it or bury it in the morning on the way home. I hate cats!!
